Together We Can Do More
We’re partners in your success
If you’re seeking a career in real estate, like many other fields, it can be intimidating to the newly licensed agent. With the daily experiences being all so new (and they are!), the agent needs support and resources to enable them to succeed.
At Realty Network Group, we believe the most important thing to propel you in the right direction is a company who will support you and allow you to grow. New agents have millions of questions (just ask any Broker) and they need to be able to approach someone with the expertise to address their concerns, talk things out, bounce things off and the like. Newly licensed professionals need mentorship. They need someone who will point them in the right direction, because there exist paths that could take clients down the wrong road. They need a mentor who has a calm temperament, can think straight when potential issues arise and won’t get overly excited. Though sometimes it’s perfectly acceptable to get excited!
Enter Amy. We recently sat down with our trainer, who is also an Associate Broker and veteran in her field, Amy L. Kiesinger Bohenek, to discuss what challenges new entrants to real estate presently encounter. In the past, Amy has trained agents at Classic Properties, Semian & Gress Real Estate, ERA One Source and Keller Williams. Moreover, she’s been training REALTORS® for years at Realty Network Group and has a solid approach for helping agents maintain a healthy work-life balance, especially when diving right in.
How is Realty Network Group’s training compared to other real estate franchises and locally-owned businesses?
Our company tailors training toward the individual and their needs. Each newly licensed person has special strengths and we look to highlight those through our mentorship program. It’s important to accompany new agents into the field, on appointments, so they’re comfortable and prepared — giving a boost to their career.
We have the flexibility in place, where we slow things down or speed things up on an individual basis depending how the agent is comprehending the material. Certain situations allow us to meet as a group, whereas others call for one-on-one, hands-on training. It’s more than going over a contract. It’s determining if they understand it. Can they fill it out? Can they explain it to their clients?
What do you find to be the single biggest challenge new entrants to real estate face?
While lack of support or competition from other seasoned agents can create hardships for those who’ve just jumped into the business, seeing a transaction through to fruition is perhaps the biggest obstacle they’ll confront. Getting through the entire transaction can be daunting. For instance, a listing agent must have an understanding of particular neighborhoods, be able to effectively price a property and discern a homeowner’s circumstances prior to the listing entering the market. There are also contracts/documents, coaching and guiding the seller, disclosures, important dates, etc. The transaction, beginning to end, can appear overwhelming to new entrants, but if broken down into bite-size chunks, it’s manageable and a great learning experience, helping them grow.
How do you coach an agent who’s looking to grow their business from “part-time” to full-time or even the one who can only dedicate a limited number of hours toward launching their career?
As cliche as it sounds, real estate is what you make of it. There are plenty of very successful “part-time” agents, who perform well and are top producers. Besides passion, time and energy are required to become successful in our industry as a full-time participant.
